Jamie Redknapp, a former Premier League player, has advised Eberechi Eze to compete for a spot in Arsenal’s starting lineup. According to Redknapp, Eze has to battle his way into the starting lineup because he presently trails players like Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice, and Martin Zubimendi on Mikel Arteta’s squad sheet. Redknapp pushed manager Mikel Arteta to start Eze in the middle of midfield before Arsenal’s trip to Newcastle UnitedIn Wednesday night’s 2-0 Carabao Cup triumph over Port Vale, the England international, who has typically played on the left wing, made his debut as a left No. 8. Eze has played as a left or right No. 8 since joining Arsenal, which is comparable to the position he held at Crystal Palace. He scored one of Arsenal’s goals against Port Vale and was excellent. “I still think he’s better as one of those three [in the middle],” Redknapp said to Sky Sports. “We witnessed his assist against Man City over the weekend.” It was top-notch. “He is an excellent player, but I would want to see him play a more key roleBecause there is rivalry for spots, it is challenging.
