Tacha Akide, an influencer and reality TV star, has generated internet discussion after revealing her observations about the financial hardships faced by Nigerians residing in the UK.
The former BBNaija housemate, who is currently living in the UK, expressed in a recent video her belief that many Nigerians living overseas are not as financially secure as is generally believed.
Contrary to common assumption, Tacha said that because of the high cost of living in the UK, many Nigerians are barely making ends meet, and some are even living less comfortably than their Nigerian counterparts.
Tacha further stated that, from her observation, many people in Nigeria are actually living more comfortably than those abroad, especially with the rising cost of living in the UK.
“You see those of you always having inferiority complex in Nigeria, thinking everyone here is rich, most people here are broke. The most broke people I have met are actually the people I met in the UK. Everyone is holding themselves. It is expensive.”
“Believe me when I say that things are not going well here. In actuality, the majority of Nigerians are living in greater prosperity than those who reside here. Go ahead and move if you want to, but don’t do it with the attitude that everything is OK. If you don’t want to take the train, you can picture yourself spending $300,000 on a cab in a single day and $1,000,000 on a car in a week. “Consider your choice,” she added.
Her comments have generated discussion on social media, with many users comparing the aspirations of people back home with the realities of living overseas.
