The Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area, Hon. Shedrack Azubuike, halted a political rally planned by the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, at St. Augustine Primary School in Umunze.
The action was taken because the rally was being set up during school hours, which violates a standing directive from the Anambra State Ministry of Education.
The Violation: Ukachukwu’s campaign council was erecting canopies at the school while classes were in session,The Chairman’s Response: Hon. Azubuike stormed the venue, ordered the immediate dismantling of the canopies, and instructed the organizers to leave,The Justification: The Chairman cited a circular from August 2025 that bans all political, religious, or social gatherings in public and private schools during school hours to prevent noise and disruption to teaching. He also noted the campaign failed to obtain written clearance from the Local Government Authority, The Stance the Chairman insisted this was not an action against any specific group but a strict enforcement of rules to maintain “peace, order and public safety.” He further warned that school heads who ignore this directive would face sanctions.
In short, the rally was stopped for breaking the “no politics during class time” rule. Seems like the local government takes its school bell seriously!
