The G7 declares Iran the “Principal Source” of regional instability and upholds Israel’s right to self-defense.

Group of Seven (G7) leaders have declared Tehran the “principal source” of instability in the Middle East and reiterated Israel’s right to self-defense in the face of ongoing confrontations with Iran.

The leaders of the G7 reaffirmed their concerns about Iran’s nuclear aspirations and harshly denounced its behavior in a joint statement released late Monday after the G7 conference in Canada.
The main cause of regional unrest and terrorism is Iran. Iran cannot ever possess a nuclear weapon, as we have repeatedly stated,” the statement said.

The G7 urged an immediate de-escalation of hostilities throughout the area and emphasized the need to protect civilians while also endorsing Israel’s right to self-defense.

The statement demanded humanitarian access to the impacted communities and a truce in the Gaza Strip.

Following Israel’s military operations in Iran and retaliatory actions that have killed scores in both countries, the G7 declaration reflects a united Western stance amid worries of a wider regional war.

The G7 is made up of the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
