The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has unveiled the mascot, logo, and theme song for the upcoming 2024 National Sports Festival.
The governor carried out the unveiling during a ceremony held in the state earlier today, April 16, ahead of the National Sports Festival, which will kick off from May 16 to 30, 2025.
On behalf of his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Abiodun stated that the state is dedicated to organizing a remarkable, inclusive, and motivational National Sports Festival that would become a landmark in Nigerian athletic history.
During his speech at the June 12 Cultural Centre, the governor discussed Ogun State’s past hosting experience almost two decades ago and emphasized that the state is now prepared and ready to welcome guests with creative ideas that might improve the National Sports Festival.
Abiodun praised the theme song written by Dr. Bayo Adepetun, calling it “rich in rhythm and spirit,” and praised the work of the Ministry of Culture’s skilled staff, who brought the mascot to life, showcasing the festival’s inventiveness. These creative components, he said, capture the spirit, legacy, and ambitions of the Ogun State people.
Assuring that meticulous preparations are in progress for a remarkable occasion, the governor disclosed that the government has made substantial investments in modernizing current facilities and building new ones that meet international standards.
Ogun State’s goal of becoming a major center for sports tourism and athletic prowess in Nigeria is reinforced by these developments, which are intended to leave a lasting legacy from the festival.
The spirit of Nigerian sports will be felt throughout Ogun State from May 16 to May 31. Together, let’s make this occasion great, unforgettable, and a genuine celebration of skill, solidarity, and patriotism,” the governor continued.
