The Nigerian government attributes the failure to pay workers’ June paychecks to technical issues.

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, or OAGF, on behalf of the Nigerian government, has attributed the nonpayment of some federal civil officers’ June 2025 salary on technological issues.

This clarification was provided in a statement released on Friday by OAGF spokesman Bawa Mokwa.

His explanation follows employee complaints over June 2025’s non-receipt.

In response, OAGF stated that after conducting an investigation, it attributed the delay to technological issues, particularly for employees who used Zenith Bank as their salary account.

The office promised that in order to address the issue, it is collaborating closely with the pertinent service providers and stakeholders.

After an examination, it was found that a technical network issue during the bank’s salary processing had an impact on the salary payments for staff members from different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, or MDAs.

Given the significance of on-time salary payments to the livelihoods and obligations of our esteemed public officials, the OAGF is cognizant of the concern and frustration this situation has created.

“We would want to sincerely apologize for any difficulty this regrettable occurrence has caused and reassure all impacted employees that prompt action has been taken to address the problem.

“To guarantee that the unsuccessful payments are reprocessed as soon as possible, the office is presently collaborating closely with the pertinent service providers and stakeholders. We urge all Federal Public Service employees who are impacted to maintain their composure and know that every effort will be made to guarantee that everyone is paid what they are due.

Plans are in place to reprocess the unsuccessful payments as soon as possible, and concrete measures have already been made to isolate the issue. The office’s core objective continues to be the welfare of federal employees.

According to the statement, “The OAGF is open to ongoing engagement with stakeholders to ensure sustained improvements in our service delivery and remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all payroll operations.”
