The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has clarified that it declined to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition because it does not wish to forsake its own political system for an alliance whose course and results are still up in the air.
In an interview with BBC Hausa, Buba Galadima, the party’s secretary of the board of trustees, stated as much.
“They didn’t ask us to join their party, so why do they expect us to leave ours and join theirs?” “What?” Galadima asked.
Additionally, he urged Nigerian lawmakers to form their own parties and see if they could match his leader, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, in terms of political clout.
Galadima acknowledged that a coalition might help the opposition, but insisted that there are still many obstacles in the way of such an alliance.
