Ahead of the general elections in 2027, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Okigwe Zone has taken bold action to establish itself as a powerful political force by calling a high-level stakeholders’ meeting to resolve internal issues and strengthen unity.
Speaking at the gathering, Chief Chuks Ajaelu, the State Vice Chairman of the PDP (Okigwe Zone), emphasized the significance of solidarity and group determination among party leaders and members in the fight to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress, or APC.
“It is a normal thing to quarrel in a family. But in doing that, every member of the family should know its boundaries. What is important is how the family is formidably united after a minor misunderstanding. PDP is a big family that can’t be divided by mere internal squabbles,” Ajaelu stated.
Citing their “unusual performances” and leadership in maintaining the party’s vibrancy in Imo State, the stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, the PDP’s national secretary, and Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, the party’s chairman of Imo State.
Ajaelu advocated sustained adherence to the party’s collective program and praised party leaders for their commitment to peace and reconciliation. He issued a warning against polarizing behaviors that would jeopardize attempts to win back the public’s trust.
The creation of the Okigwe Zonal Reconciliation Committee, which was tasked with reuniting the zone’s disgruntled party members, was a major result of the meeting.
Members of the Okigwe zonal executive, LGA chairmen, women leaders, and youth leaders were given wrappers as a symbolic act to strengthen unity and goodwill.
Prominent individuals and interested parties from all six LGAs in Okigwe Zone attended the gathering.
