Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu has revealed that it will no longer be acceptable for many of his aides to list members of their family for appointments.
He revealed that his government will begin making more appointments the following month, but they will rely on lists of individuals gathered from the state’s 196 wards.
After receiving training in innovative farming, he spoke to former agitators and farmers in Calabar.
We’re going to make more political appointments,” Otu declared. However, I had major problems with past appointments where the committee in charge of choosing names would typically choose members of their own family.
He declared that since his government is people-centered and appointments must inevitably span the entire state, such behavior will no longer be tolerated.
The governor revealed that he would personally visit each ward and local government area to gather lists of eligible individuals.
“I will now tour the local government districts and their wards, holding town hall meetings where each ward will present their appointment lists.
Therefore, people who want appointments should go back to their LGAs and wards. No one will be permitted to attend appointments with only family members.
