To maintain a fair and open market, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has called on stockbrokers to always act with the utmost professionalism and ethics. Speaking at the 29th annual conference of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers in Abuja, SEC Director General Dr. Emomotimi Agama stated that investors need to have complete faith that the intermediaries handling their money are held to the highest standards of integrity and skill.According to Agama, this year’s conference theme, “Capital Markets in a Digital, Ethical, Sustainable Era: Pathways for Economic Transformation,” is relevant because it addresses the global shift in which innovation is driven by technology, trust is anchored by ethics, and sustainability determines the direction of finance. Digitalization, ethics, and sustainability are not distinct pillars; rather, they constitute the cornerstones of contemporary, inclusive, and robust financial markets.
