At least three nations have been eliminated from the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in Morocco after failing to earn a single point in the group round thus far. The three nations are Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Botswana. The aforementioned nations will pack up and depart Morocco regardless of the result of their final group stage games, even though they have one more to play this week. After losing their first two games in a row, Botswana is now in last place in Group D with zero points. Senegal defeated them 3-0, and the Benin Republic defeated them 1-0.The Zebras’ last group match is against DR Congo on Tuesday; their elimination from the competition has already been confirmed by the results of other games in their group.Equatorial Guinea likewise lost twice in Group E. They were without a point after losing 1-0 against Sudan and 2-1 to Burkina Faso in their opening match. Gabon also withdrew early from Group F following consecutive losses.They were defeated 1-0 by Cameroon in their opening match and then 3-2 by Mozambique in their second. Gabon is mathematically eliminated because they are at the bottom of the group. In their final group match on Wednesday, they will strive for pride against Ivory Coast.
