New appointments in Nigeria’s education sector have been approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, released a statement on Wednesday announcing the appointments, which have an impact on important Federal Ministry of Education institutes
The statement claims that President Tinubu kept Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar but selected Professor Modupe Adeola Adelabu as Chairman of the NECO Governing Board.
Professor Babatunde Salako was appointed Chairman of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) by the President, who also reappointed Professor Idris M. Bugaje as Executive Secretary for a second and final five-year term.
Salako is “a globally respected researcher with decades of experience in higher education, institutional governance, and national policy leadership,” according to the statement.
After a vetting procedure, President Tinubu also approved the nomination of Engineer Dr. Bongfa Binfa as Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, N’yak-Shendam, Plateau State, for a single five-year tenure.

The President stated that he was certain the appointments will improve service delivery throughout the organization and strengthen governance.
