Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has requested that his client be moved from Northern Nigeria due to safety risks. Speaking on Friday via X, Ejimakor pointed to recent reports of U.S. military strikes against terrorists in Sokoto State as proof that the area is unsafe for Kanu’s detention. He argued that the presence of high-level terrorist activity in Sokoto confirms the region is unsuitable for holding the IPOB leader and expressed concern that Kanu is currently situated within a dangerous “terrorist belt.” Ejimakor emphasized that relocating Kanu to a more secure facility outside of the North-West has become an urgent necessity given the deteriorating security situation.
