According to Abdullah Kavukcu, vice president of Galatasaray, Andrea Berta, the sporting director of Arsenal, was surprised by the financial information pertaining to Victor Osimhen’s transfer.
The former African Footballer of the Year was signed permanently by the Turkish Super Lig champions last summer after a stellar season on loan from Napoli, despite the fact that Saudi Arabian and Premier League teams were vying for the striker.
Osimhen’s five-year stay with Napoli came to an end when Galatasaray activated his €75 million release clause.
The winner of the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup will be guaranteed a salary of €15 million per year, with an additional €5 million from image rights and a net loyalty incentive of €1 million every season.
Speaking about the significance of the Nigerian striker to the Turkish team, Kavukcu made it clear that he would not consider selling Osimhen, not even for a hefty €150 million.
According to Habersarikirmizi, Kavukcu told HT Spor, “I wouldn’t sell him for €150 million, but ultimately, it is a decision for our president to make.”
“You have to find a substitute player when you sell him. This is very important.
“The sporting director of Arsenal was shocked to learn that we were investing these sums when he recently visited.
They have a €800 million budget. This year, we want to spend €500 million.
Abdullah Kavukcu also highlighted Osimhen’s economic impact on Galatasaray since his arrival, pointing out that the Super Eagles player still makes a sizable sum of money off the field.
“Osimhen will stay with us. We expect his presence to bring in about €22 million.
Additionally, we have three advertising agreements with Victor. Each of them gives us €2 million for advertising campaigns. This brings in €6 million for us.
“We have benefited greatly from the Osimhen transfer; our ambition has paid off.”
