Luis Enrique, the manager of Paris Saint-Germain, has highlighted goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma for particular commendation, asserting that the Italian was crucial in saving his team during the Champions League semi-final first leg against Arsenal on Wednesday.
Ousmane Dembele scored in the first half, leading to a 1-0 victory for Erinque’s side over the Premier League North London club at the Emirates Stadium.
In remarks following the match, Erinque stated that PSG could have netted a second goal.
According to him, PSG showed the kind of team they are, adding that the visitors scored the goal early.
“I think emotions are at that level in those kind of matches so it’s difficult to analyse,” Erinque told Amazon Prime after the game.
“Great atmosphere but we showed the kind of team we are. We tried to play our way and scored the goal early playing the way we play.
“We suffered sometimes but could have scored the second goal.”
Speaking about the performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Enrique added: “That is the work of a goalkeeper, no? Save the team, they work every day for that. In a semi-final, you need all the players, “he said.
