The wealthy heir Kiddwaya has come under fire from social commentator and activist VeryDarkMan for asking for money from the general public to help the victims of the recent tragedy in Yelwata, Benue State.
According to the DAILYPOST, Kiddwaya was forced to remove a post he had made on X asking Nigerians to donate money for the impacted community after it received a lot of negative feedback.
In a video that was uploaded on X, VeryDarkMan quickly responded by pointing out the irony of Kiddwaya’s behavior and raising doubts about why someone who is known for showing off his wealth would suddenly turn to regular people for financial support.
According to the activist, if Kiddwaya’s concern was sincere, he ought to have personally provided the funding.
“The first thing you could do is just write one article quickly, and then you go and drop the account number,” he stated. If you’ve never been to Benue, how would you know what they need? You simply compose a pointless letter and drop your account wherever you are.
“I’m glad Nigerians chastised you so much that you deleted me, because I love my body.” Because you’re a man who likes to boast about how wealthy you are. It’s said that you should pass every Nigerian each time you flaunt your wealth.
VeryDarkMan further weighed in on NGOs, warning them against exploiting the crisis in Benue State by soliciting donations for food items, as the real problem is insecurity.
The activist proposed that he will only share his NGO’s account if community leaders set up defense groups and get approval for arms from the Inspector General of Police.
He said, “To every NGO in the country that might want to take advantage of the happenings in benue state, the people of Benue are not hungry. You will collect money from government say una wan bring relief material una go bring rice beans garri, the people of Benue are not starving, food is not their problem, insecurity is.
“If the local government’s community leaders can organize a vigilante and write to the inspector general of police stating that they require weapons, we will post the account number online and inform all Nigerians, even if they only give five naira.
“Everyone needs to do their part; this is not the time to talk and remain silent.”
