The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Monday at 4 a.m. to attend the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS). The Minister, who departed Abuja on Sunday, was received at the airport by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, along with several FCTA officials, including the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, and other directors. According to a statement from the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s purpose for attending the global platform is to highlight Abuja’s developmental strides and attract trade and investment opportunities. On Tuesday, Wike is scheduled to lead a high-level discussion panel where he will field questions about the FCT, and he is expected to share insights on urban development and exchange ideas on sustainable urban growth with mayors and city leaders from across the world. The 2025APCS is a global platform initiated by the Brisbane City Council that promotes collaboration among governments and businesses, focusing on trade and investment across the Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
