Youths accuse ex-Plateau lawmaker of deceit, say he made no meaningful impact during his eight years in office

Youths of Mbar Ward in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State have challenged former lawmaker Solomon Maren over his claims of initiating several projects during his tenure as the representative of Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Maren, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), had boasted while addressing his supporters that he completed numerous projects across his constituency, including roads, hospitals, youth empowerment schemes, and job creation.

However, a group under the banner of *Concerned Youths for Good Governance* dismissed his claims, describing his eight years in the National Assembly as a complete failure, adding that he had no tangible achievement to his name.

In a statement released on Sunday, the group said it was absurd and deceitful for Maren to claim credit for projects executed by other lawmakers.

According to them, “Hon. Maren’s desperate attempt to rewrite history and parade fictitious achievements is both insulting and disgraceful. His claim that the hospital in Magi Community was his initiative is false — that project was carried out by Hon. Lalu.”

The youths accused Maren of neglecting his constituency throughout his tenure, stressing that Mbar Ward had no meaningful projects, empowerment programmes, or infrastructural development during his time in office.

They further alleged that Maren often deceived residents during elections by bringing construction equipment to the community as a campaign strategy, only to remove them after securing votes.

“It is laughable for Maren to criticize Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s administration when visible development is ongoing under his leadership,” the group added, citing projects such as the renovation of Government Secondary School Mbar, the Mbar–Magama road construction, school and borehole rehabilitation, agricultural support, youth empowerment, and improved security.

They also condemned the substandard and incomplete Mbar Town Hall, which Maren claimed as one of his achievements, calling it a symbol of his failure and neglect.

The group urged Maren to stop spreading falsehoods and deceiving the public with fake accomplishments, asserting that the people of Mbar Ward are now politically aware and will no longer be misled.

Reaffirming their loyalty to Governor Mutfwang, the youths stated that his administration has delivered genuine progress to Mbar and surrounding areas, emphasizing their commitment to truth, accountability, and the rejection of deceitful politicians.
