Mustapha Salihu, the National Vice Chairman (North-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed his thoughts on the rumored conflict between Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu.
There have been rumors that Tinubu and Shettima are at odds, but Salihu brushed them off as idle chatter from “conflict entrepreneurs.”
According to rumors, the vice president is being neglected in the grand scheme of things and is particularly disturbed by the president’s inability to transfer authority to him, even while he is abroad for an extended period of time.
The Vice president is hardly mentioned at the occasions where the President receives endorsements for a second term in office fueling the rumour that he might be sourcing for a new vice presidential candidate ahead of 2027.
Appearing on Channels Television on Monday evening, Salihu was asked about the speculation of a rift between the President and his vice, and the APC chieftain said, “The administration of a party is not run on social media, newspapers, or television. It’s handled internally.
“These kinds of rumours are inevitable in every administration— people will always try to suggest friction between the principal and the Vice.
Some politicians who lack confidence thrive on it. However, such noise should not disturb you if you are confident in yourself.
He added that it was incorrect for anyone to imply that the North-East APC was unhappy.
“Yola is where I am. Members from Taraba, Gombe, Bauchi, and Yobe have interacted with me. He remarked, “The night before the summit, we all stayed up brainstorming.”
