Adebayo Adelabu, the immediate former Minister of Power, has stated that he does not intend to switch from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in advance of the general elections in 2027.
Adelabu made this announcement through a statement released by Femi Awogboro, his media assistant.
DAILY POST in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, was given access to the statement on Wednesday.
According to the DAILY POST, a rumour that Adelabu had finalised plans to leave the APC appeared online on Tuesday.
The rumour claimed that the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Deputy Governor planned to join the SDP.
However, Adelabu responded by characterising the rumour as untrue and unfounded.
He claimed that the rumour was made up to deceive people.
Adelabu insisted in the statement that he is a dedicated APC member.
But he maintained that he would not be discouraged from attending the party by any amount of deception.
“Those who are spreading this rumour should realise that Chief Adelabu is still a devoted and devoted member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and no amount of deception, propaganda, wishful thinking, or political mischief can change that fact.
Therefore, it is extremely disrespectful and should be denounced by all well-meaning members of the public to associate Chief Adelabu with a nonexistent defection agenda. It is nothing more than a deliberate attempt to draw attention from the media and fabricate a political movement where none exists.
