All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Kano State have bought nomination and expression of interest forms for Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
During a stakeholders’ meeting on Thursday, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the party’s immediate former national chairman, gave the form to the governor.
Additionally, the stakeholders supported President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s only presidential candidate.
The party leaders, however, disqualified other candidates from receiving automatic tickets.
They maintained that internal procedures, especially consensus, would be used to determine all other positions.
Ganduje said the party leaders had decided to support Governor Yusuf for a second term after presenting the form to the governor.
“As a former Deputy Governor for eight years, former Governor for eight years, and former National Chairman of our great party, I hereby hand over these two important forms to you in order to actualise that promise,” he stated. “We have already agreed that you are our sole governorship candidate.”
He clarified that the forms, which must be properly filled out and submitted in accordance with party requirements, include the expression of interest and nomination forms.
Nonetheless, Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi made the motion to adopt Tinubu, and all of the attendees unanimously agreed.
Umar Haruna Doguwa, the chairman of the Kano State APC, stated earlier that the party had originally intended to buy Tinubu nomination forms as a gesture of support.
He stated, “We wanted to purchase a form for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from Kano, but we noticed that some other people had already done so.”
