2027: Peter Obi: If anyone can show that I stole money from the Labour Party, I’ll quit running for office.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared that he will cease his campaign if anyone can demonstrate that he accepted 1% of the Labour Party’s donations.

On Tuesday, Obi made the promise in an exclusive interview with Oseni Rufai on Nevon Media.

He was responding to a claim that he and human rights advocate Aisha Yesufu embezzled money intended for the general elections of 2023 from the Labour Party.

I don’t listen to people who are talking incoherently. He claimed that we deducted 10 billion naira, or $30 million, from the Labour Party’s account. The account is where?

Soon, I’ll add each accuser to the list of people I want to come forward and prove that I embezzled money from the Labour Party’s account or that there was any financial mismanagement.

Obi declared, “Look, I will stop campaigning if anyone can prove that I took 1% of the Labour Party’s donations.”
