2027: The PDP starts vetting candidates for governor and president.

In advance of the general elections in 2027, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has started screening its candidates for governor and president.

The National Working Committee, led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, is conducting the exercise at the party’s National Secretariat Annexe, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.

The screening of candidates for governorship will start at 12 p.m. on Thursday, while the screening for presidential candidates is set for 2 p.m. at the same location, according to a statement released by National Director of Publicity Chinwe Nnorom.

According to the statement, Hassan Sokodobo is the secretary of the presidential screening committee, which is presided over by former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Alhaji Abba Isawa, Senator George Sekibo, Sodipo Semiu, Mrs. Chinelo Chidebelu, Nasiru Mohammed, Senator Zainab Kure, and Lindsey Sora are among the other members of the presidential screening committee.

Ahmed Makarfi, a former governor of Kaduna State, chairs the screening committee for candidates for governor, and George Ariolu is the secretary.

Dr. Ibrahim Umar, Prof. Aisha Madawaki, Tajudeen Yusuf, Dr. Abdulganiyu Oloyin, Babangida Modibbo, Alhaji Buba Biri, Olaniyi Ogungbuji, Mike Ahumibe, Gabriel Igboko, Pastor Tony Effiong, and Mrs. Precious Ojelabi are among the other members of the governorship screening committee.
