56 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that were purportedly hidden by suspected terrorists on the Marte–Dikwa Bridge in Borno State have been found by Operation Hadin Kai troops.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, disclosed this in a post on X on Friday.
The article claims that soldiers from the 24 Brigade in Dikwa, Borno State, found the explosives while conducting a clearance operation.
Makama claimed that suspected members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) strategically positioned the IEDs to obstruct both military and civilian traffic along the road and cause a large number of casualties.
Based on reliable intelligence, the soldiers discovered the devices prior to their explosion. 56 prepped IEDs in all were found at the location, according to the report.
The bombs were swiftly removed and neutralized by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.
Explosives were placed across large sections of the bridge, which links important communities in northern Borno, according to photos taken during the operation.
According to reports, military officials have kept an eye on the region while more clearance efforts are underway.
