The recent attack by the Lakurawa terror gang on Kwalajiya village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State has been denounced by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The PDP’s unit in Sokoto State called the incident a heartbreaking and savage tragedy.
Hassan Sahabi Sanyinnawal, the party’s publicity secretary, released a statement on Friday expressing the party’s sadness over the Lakurawa incident that claimed the lives of 15 locals earlier in the week.
The PDP referred to the tragedy as appalling, expressed sympathy to the families of the victims, including the seven injured, and urged security agencies to act quickly to find and apprehend the criminals.
In order to prevent more bloodshed and aid the impacted people, it also encouraged the Sokoto State administration to send more security forces to the region right away.
“The safety and security of citizens must remain a top priority,” the statement continued, as the PDP assured the people of Tangaza of its full support at this trying time.
The party called on the federal government to take more initiative and decisive action to combat the rising levels of insecurity in Sokoto State and the nation as a whole.The PDP called for a united front in combating the scourge of terrorism and banditry throughout Nigeria and reiterated its commitment to standing with all communities impacted by insecurity.
