Fenerbahce’s announcement of Mourinho’s next management position

Fenerbahce’s Jose Mourinho is believed to be “close” to replacing Roberto Martinez as Portugal manager, according to CNN.

It is a shock move that could see Mourinho reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The two Portuguese men worked together at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013

The Portuguese federation is lining up Mourinho, who is expected to be hired this summer.

Despite the animosity between the two from their time together in Spain, Mourinho is not thought to have a problem coaching Ronaldo.

Mourinho might have a lengthy tenure with the national team before the 2026 World Cup in North America if he took control now.

It is reported that the negotiations with Mourinho were not hampered by Portugal’s advance to the June Nations League semifinals.

Martinez will be in charge of that game as well as the subsequent third-place play-off or final, but it has reportedly been decided to make the move after the fact.
