According to human rights advocate and attorney Dele Farotimi, President Bola Tinubu would have been better off avoiding Benue State than going there and showing no empathy for the suffering of its citizens.
According to Farotimi, Tor Tiv V James Ayatse was the sole notable speaker during the president’s visit to Benue.
Ayatse called the attacks a “calculated, well-planned, full-scale genocidal invasion and land grabbing campaign by herder terrorists and bandits,” according to the attorney.
Farotimi stated this on Thursday while fielding questions on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
“I must say very quickly that it would have been better if the president didn’t go.
“The only thing worthy of anybody’s time was the words of the Tor Tiv, who spoke extensively to the reality of the situation in the Benue Trough and spoke eloquently to the pains of the victims.
The president’s only contributions, according to Farotimi, were “windows into his obsession and what really worries his aides and assistants.”
According to the DAILY POST, the president traveled to Benue on Wednesday in an attempt to address the state’s violent attacks.
