Head coach Justine Madugu of the Super Falcons has announced a final squad of 24 players for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
After nearly a year away, Asisat Oshoala, a forward for Bay FC, is returning to the squad.
Since the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Oshoala has not played for the nine-time African champions.
Also included in the list were Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, regulars goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, Francisca Ordega, Osinachi Ohale, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Michelle Alozie.
Three players based at home – goalkeeper Rachael Unachukwu and defenders Sikiratu Isah and Miracle Usani – were also selected.
Next week Monday, the Super Falcons will face Portugal in a friendly match in Lisbon.
On Sunday, 29 June, they will also compete against the Black Queens of Ghana in another friendly match in Morocco.
The competition will take place in Morocco from Saturday, July 5, to Saturday, July 26.
