FG acts to implement $300 helicopter tax while IOCs face a 7-day deadline

According to Daily Trust, an imminent confrontation is brewing between the federal government and international oil companies (IOCs) as well as operators of floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) in Nigeria after a seven-day ultimatum was issued for the payment of $300 helicopter landing fees.

On Tuesday, the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) released a notice in several national newspapers containing the ultimatum.

A memo emanating from the ministry had last year directed helicopter operators to compulsorily pay helicopter landing fees at all Nigerian aerodromes, helipads, airstrips, floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, floating storage and offloading (FSO) units and other oil platforms.
