Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, revealed that plans to establish an Army operational facility in the state’s Zuru Emirate have been finalized in an effort to increase local security.
Idris revealed this on Wednesday during his condolence visits to Kyebu in the state’s Danko/Wasagu LGA and Tadurga village in the Zuru LGA.
The governor’s trips followed recent bandit attacks in Tadurga and Kyebu that resulted in cattle rustling and fatalities.
In addition, Idris revealed that he has arranged for the state to get armored personnel carriers (APCs) and other equipment from Abuja right away.
In order to further protect the lives and property of the residents, he said, the state government would assist in setting up the base in the area as soon as possible.
In addition, the governor mandated that the base be given immediate temporary housing until a permanent building was being built.
“No government will stand by and let law-abiding citizens suffer at the hands of criminals and bandits.”
“My administration places a high priority on security and is concerned about the tragedy that led to the loss of lives,” he stated.
Idris expressed sadness over the deaths and prayed to Allah Ta’ala for Aljannah Firdausi and a quick recovery for those hurt.
The governor advised the people to avoid politicizing the security situation and to avoid posting rash remarks on social media.
Sani Sami-Gomo II, the Emir of Zuru, had earlier thanked the governor for the condolence visit and praised his continued efforts to fight insecurity in the emirate.
