Muhammad Dahiru, the recently appointed Jigawa State Police Commissioner, has formally taken up his position as the 24th Commissioner of Police.
SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command’s public relations officer, made this announcement in a message to DAILY POST.
According to him, CP AT Abdullahi, who had meritoriously retired from active duty following a stellar career in the Nigeria Police Force, is replaced by CP Muhammad Dahiru.Born in Garun Malam Local Government Area, Kano State, on June 20, 1966, CP Muhammad Dahiru is a seasoned and well-bred police officer. He received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science (BSc) from Bayero University Kano in 1984–1988 and served in Lagos State for a year of mandatory national service (NYSC) in 1988–1989; he joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASPII) and received training at Nigeria Police Academy Annex Kaduna in 1992–1993, where he held several important roles before being posted to Jigawa State.
In keeping with the goals and objectives of the Nigeria Police Force under the current leadership, CP Dahiru promised to improve interagency cooperation, community partnerships, intelligence-led policing, and respect for human rights.
Additionally, the CP called on the general public, community-based groups, religious leaders, traditional rulers, and other important stakeholders to support the police in advancing development, peace, and security throughout Jigawa State.
In addition to urging the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to the closest police formation or the command’s emergency contacts, the command reassured locals of its ongoing commitment to upholding law and order.
