Gunmen attack a village in Kano, kidnapping one person.

The son of a well-known trader was kidnapped by unknown gunmen during a Thursday night raid on the Faruruwa hamlet in Kano State’s Shanono Local Government Area.

Around 7 p.m., the attackers broke into the neighborhood and allegedly fired intermittently to terrorize the locals.

Ibrahim Faruruwa, a witness, claims that the attackers specifically targeted Alhaji Haruna Halilu, a well-known local trader, who was not at his store when the attack occurred.

Ibrahim claimed that they kidnapped Alhaji Haruna’s son, Mas’ud, after failing to capture him.

Abdullahi Kiyawa, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, confirmed the event and stated that the police have started an investigation after learning about the attack.

He promised that after the investigation is complete, all incident facts will be made public.

As of the time this story was filed, it is unknown how many people were abducted or how many casualties there were.
