Citing security and social vice promotion concerns, the Katsina State House of Assembly has called on the state government to outlaw graduation ceremonies in schools. Deputy Speaker Alhaji Abduljal Runka presided over Tuesday’s plenary, where the resolution was adopted. Katsina Constituency Representative Aliyu Abubakar-Albaba also emphasized the growing issue of phone snatching and urged the government to act quickly to stop the threat. The house unanimously approved the motions, and the clerk was directed to send the resolutions to the Executive Arm for any further action that might be required.
In the same session, the assembly called for the dismissal of Dr. Ibrahim Ishaq, Permanent Member “I” of the State Universal Basic Education Board, or SUBEB, after he made a supposedly offensive public statement to the legislature.
