Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has granted pardon to six inmates from correctional centers in Adamawa State.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, explained that the pardon is in honor of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Wonosikou said the inmates were granted clemency after showing significant improvement in their behavior.
Quoting the governor, he said, “In the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as provided in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and based on the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I have granted pardon to six individuals who have served various jail terms and have consistently demonstrated good conduct over the years.”
The governor has ordered their immediate release and instructed the relevant authorities to ensure the order is implemented promptly.
The pardoned inmates are Wamari Godwin, Abraham Marksunil, David Paul, Ibrahim Adamu, Usman Inuwa, and Sani Yahaya.
