As Nigeria celebrates 65 years of independence, Google has honored the occasion with a special doodle on its homepage, featuring the green-white-green colors of the national flag alongside an eagle motif.
Clicking on the doodle directs users to important historical facts and milestones about Nigeria’s path to nationhood.
In his Independence Day address, President Bola Tinubu expressed optimism that the country is turning a new page, insisting that the “worst is over” following the challenges of economic reforms.
Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s second-quarter GDP growth of 4.23%—the strongest in four years—along with easing inflation at 20.12%, rising foreign reserves, and increased oil production as signs of recovery.
He also revealed that the government has distributed N330 billion to eight million vulnerable households through its social investment program and reiterated its commitment to speeding up infrastructure development.
The president called on Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance, and unity across all divides, emphasizing that while differences are natural, they must not stand in the way of collective progress.
