The Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has presented party flags to its 16 chairmanship candidates ahead of the November 8, 2025, local government elections.
The flag presentation ceremony, held in Jalingo, the state capital, marked a major step in the party’s preparations for the polls following the release of the election timetable by the Taraba State Independent Electoral Commission, TSIEC.
After completing its nomination process across the 16 local government councils and 168 wards, the PDP submitted its list of candidates to TSIEC for screening, during which all 16 chairmanship candidates were cleared.
Speaking at the event, the PDP State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, congratulated the candidates, noting that their emergence was a reflection of divine will and party confidence rather than personal merit.
“You are not here because you are the best, but because it is the will of God. You must now prove yourselves worthy by ensuring victory for the PDP at all levels,” Bawa stated.
He urged the candidates to work in line with the vision of Governor Agbu Kefas, stressing the need to support the state government’s development agenda at the grassroots.
“As incoming local government chairmen, your role is vital in advancing the governor’s transformation agenda. You must match his speed and dedication to make Taraba a model state,” he added.
Bawa also encouraged the candidates to begin engaging voters in their constituencies to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
