In an exciting Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday, Barau FC, the up-and-coming football team created by Senator Barau Jibrin, the Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, defeated Kano Pillars by an impressive 2–1. When Barau FC overcame their city rivals in their first-ever NPFL rivalry, the atmosphere was electrifying.Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali gave Kano Pillars the lead in the 20th minute, but Barau FC came back hard in the second half. Stanley Oganbor sealed the comeback with a well-taken goal in the 75th minute, sending Barau FC supporters into a frenzy after Abdulbari Nura equalized in the 52nd minute.
