Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has praised Diego Simeone, his counterpart at Atletico Madrid, for his “outstanding” work over his 14 years with the Spanish La Liga powerhouses. Prior to Arsenal’s Tuesday night matchup with Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta had a pre-game press conference. Arteta’s team enters the match after defeating Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League the previous weekend.In an interview with reporters prior to Arsenal’s match against Atletico, Arteta stated: “I think what he [Simeone] has done since he got to Atletico has been outstanding, not only what he has achieved but the way he has done it.” “I think the identity that he has created for the club, for the team, and the spirit, I think they are very simple and clear to identify, and that is because the manager is very much them.” “And that is extremely difficult to achieve for a short period of time, and to do it for 14 years, I think he has been there now, he has done something incredible, so yeah, it’s a pleasure to meet him.”
