Jurgen Klopp, the former manager of Liverpool, has previously questioned Manchester United’s decisions to re-sign players like Paul Pogba and Cristiano Ronaldo. Klopp made this statement on The Diary of a CEO podcast. Pogba and Ronaldo were both re-signed by Manchester United in 2016 and 2021, respectively. They [Man United] spoke to me the year Sir Alex Ferguson retired, and they expressed interest at one point, Klopp stated. “Paul Pogba was an incredible player, but these things don’t usually work, so I didn’t want to bring him back.” Or Cristiano—we all agree that he and Messi are the greatest players in the world—but it never helps to bring him back.In the end, Klopp joined Liverpool, Manchester United’s Premier League rival, in 2016. “After that, a football-only project involves Liverpool and an incredible conversation with [Liverpool co-owner] Mike Gordon,” Klopp continued.
