Aliko Dangote, the president and chief executive of Dangote Industries Limited, has said that his refinery will increase its daily production capacity from 650,000 barrels to 1.4 million barrels per day. Dangote revealed this at a press conference in Lagos on Sunday, accompanied by his friend and prominent businesswoman Femi OtedolaWhen the expansion push is over, he claimed, the refinery would exceed India’s Jamnagar Refinery, which has a capacity of 1.24 million barrels per day, to become the largest in the world. According to Dangote, it will take three years to finish the expansion process. “The main announcement is that we are increasing the capacity of the Dangote Refinery from 650,000 barrels per day to 1.4 million barrels per day,” he stated. As a result, it will become the biggest refinery in history. “This expansion demonstrates our faith in Africa’s potential, our confidence in Nigeria’s future, and our dedication to achieving global and continental energy independence.” He stated that 65,000 personnel will be needed for the refinery’s construction as a result of the expansion.
