Venus Williams has been granted a wildcard spot in the January Auckland Classic. After a 16-month hiatus, the 45-year-old, a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion, resumed action in July. She became the second-oldest woman to win a singles match on the WTA Tour after making her comeback by defeating world No. 35 Peyton Stearns at the Washington Open. After receiving a wildcard to the US Open a month later, she defeated 11th seed Karolina Muchova in three sets during the opening round.For the first time since 2023, Williams, who won the Auckland championship in 2015, will participate there. Prior to the Australian Open, the event takes place from January 5–11.
