The Super Eagles lost 3-4 on penalties to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Sunday night in the Africa World Cup playoff final in Rabat, Morocco, following a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Mohammed praised the players’ efforts in an interview with Daily Trust yesterday, but he insisted that the defeat was a significant setback in addition to being painful.As Chairman of the FCT Football Association, I am profoundly saddened by the Super Eagles’ defeat yesterday (Sunday). This frustration is felt in a country like ours that loves football. “I applaud our players for their hard work in difficult situations. He urged that Nigerians should only provide helpful encouragement rather than harmful criticism in light of the disappointment. “Change must be sparked by this outcome.
