The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora confirmed that armed attackers raided St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri, Niger State, between 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on November 21, 2025.
The attackers abducted pupils, students, teachers, and a security guard, and a security personnel was shot and badly injured during the assault.
The Diocese condemned the attack, expressed deep concern for the safety of the kidnapped, and confirmed that security agencies were immediately alerted and have begun coordinated rescue efforts.
The Bishop reassured the public that the Diocese is working closely with security agencies and officials. The church urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and pray for the quick and safe return of all victims, promising to provide further updates.
