A student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), reportedly died following a severe beating he allegedly received from other students at the Eni Njoku male hostel over the suspicion of stealing a phone. While the identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed, social media influencer Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi posted on Facebook that the student was dragged out and brutally assaulted, sustaining serious injuries that ultimately led to his death despite efforts to save his life. Although a senior lecturer at UNN confirmed the incident, expressing shock and demanding punishment for those involved, the university’s management has not yet issued an official statement, and the acting Public Relations Officer stated he was currently away and unable to provide immediate details on the matter.
