The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has appointed Emmanuel Meribole as the acting Secretary to the Abia State Government, or SSG. The official statement indicated that Emmanuel Meribole, who currently holds the position of Special Adviser to the Governor on Projects, will begin his duties as the acting SSG starting on January 1, 2026. To guarantee a smooth changeover, the statement also noted that the process of handing over responsibilities will commence on Monday, December 15, 2025. During this transitional period, Professor Kenneth Kalu will collaborate closely with Dr. Meribole to maintain the consistency of government functions and ensure the effective implementation of the administration’s policies and programs.
