A tricycle operator and a female passenger died on Sunday in a severe accident at the Ohiya area of Umuahia South LGA in Abia State, along the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway. Two other passengers in the tricycle sustained multiple fractures and were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia. According to eyewitnesses, the crash occurred when a speeding truck hit the tricycle from behind and dragged it and its occupants for a long distance. Two passengers died immediately upon impact, while the survivors were hospitalized in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased have been moved to a mortuary for identification. The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abia State, Ngozi Ezeoma, confirmed the incident at the Ohiya Mechanic Village and reminded motorists to drive with caution to prevent such accidents.
