Atiku Abubakar’s former vice president’s media office has rejected a recently distributed book that was credited to former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose. In a statement, Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, called the article, “Between Atiku and Makinde, Untold Story of What Happened in Minna Yesterday,” “a shameless concoction of a tissue of lies stitched together by a serial purveyor of political gossip.”The statement stressed that the publication’s assertions were completely untrue, pointing out that there had been no secret “Dubai meeting” with Atiku Abubakar, no talks about N10 billion contributions, no zoning manipulations, and no negotiations about vice-presidential tickets. “Broad-based, principled, and national in scope, not the narrow, transactional theatrics” that the article describes, Shaibu added, are Atiku’s political engagements.
