In yesterday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) week 33 encounter in Jos, Plateau United defeated championship challengers Ikorodu City 4-1 thanks to two goals from second-half replacement Ossy Martins.
After a lackluster opening forty-five minutes at the New Jos Township Stadium, Plateau United dominated the visitors in the second half, buoyed by the 2-2 draw against Bendel Insurance last weekend.
The home team had multiple close calls, but the “Peace Boys” were unable to secure the crucial first goal due to poor finishing.
To the pleasure of the home crowd, however, Kazeem Adeyanju, a midfielder for Plateau United, broke the impasse five minutes into the second half.

Ali Moses of Ikorodu City cut the gap in the 80th minute after Ossy Martins, who had replaced Vincent Temitope, extended the lead in the 72nd.
Victor Dawa added the cherry on top with the fourth goal in stoppage time after Martins’ brace eight minutes later restored Plateau United’s two-goal lead.
After the convincing win, Plateau United is currently in eighth place in the standings with 46 points after 14 wins and four ties.
