Leke Abejide, a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to formally recognize Nafiu Bala as the organization’s legitimate national chairman.
Speaking to reporters during a demonstration in Abuja on Thursday organized by the party’s Bala-led section, Abejide made the statement.
Contrary to what other party members have claimed, he said that Bala was the only member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) who did not resign.
“Nwosu who resigned did so without notice,” he stated. No meeting took place. The only party National Executive was the new national chairman they saw behind me.

“We anticipated that INEC would have acted honorably by designating him as the legitimate National Chairman.
The only party executive who did not step down was Nafiu Bala. It would be honorable for INEC to just list him as the legitimate National Chairman of the ADC.
Supporters of the Bala-led group swarmed Abuja’s streets early on Thursday, demanding that opposition leaders former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and former Senate President David Mark avoid the ADC.
Bala spearheaded the protest, accusing the politicians of trying to take over the party.
Abejide and other supporters joined Bala at the demonstration.
Only twenty-four hours have passed since the ADC’s David Mark faction staged another demonstration outside the INEC office on Wednesday.
Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and David Mark were among the prominent politicians in attendance.
