Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is subject to stringent bail requirements before being released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, or ICPC, according to Kano Emir Anusi Lamido Sanusi.
El-Rufai has been held by the ICPC since February 19.
The former governor was brought before a Kaduna high court on April 13 by the ICPC on a revised set of nine allegations pertaining to alleged fraud and misuse of authority.
However, the Emir told reporters yesterday that authorities requested an emir and a senior government official to ensure El-Rufai’s release.
“Look at what’s going on with my brother, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who is currently in custody and the conditions for his release are very tough,” he stated.
They stated that his bail must be signed by both an emir and a senior government official.
